About
By working with intimacy, sexuality and energy, the field of Tantra can touch upon some very sensitive areas. By its very nature it is "edgy". And yet, there is a need and a desire in many individuals to explore these areas of life.
So rather than stop teaching Tantra, the question is: how can we make it safer for everyone to explore these areas without harm? Tantra itself is an evolving field. Although the original path is hundreds of years old, the modern form of "Neo-Tantra" has only been around for a few decades. Therefore, it is in many ways an infant finding its footing. The Tantra Alliance was formed when many global teachers gathered together to discuss the risks, issues and needs of the Tantra world. Questions were raised. What is required to make this field professional? How can we make it safe for people to explore? How can we integrate trauma-informed awareness into the field? Where can people go when they need to resolve an issue? What do other fields of study do to regulate the system? In some ways, no one can ever make Tantra 100% "safe". To explore intimacy often means touching upon old traumas and buried pain, and there is no magic bullet to prevent that. However, we can create support structures to guide people through their Tantra journeys more smoothly, including: managing expectations, understanding how to work with boundaries and consent, making informed decisions and knowing where to go when something goes "wrong". This site is holding the space for that. Though it has been created by a group of teacher, we are choosing not to make each teacher as Tantra Alliance is not about the individual teachers or schools, but a space for the collective. Here, everyone is invited to safety, teachers and participants alike. As we resolve issues that are not yet at peace, everyone can learn and evolve together. Facilitators can learn how to take better care of participants, and participants learn how to navigate the field. We can all learn how to communicate potentially challenging conversations. And together, we can make the world of Tantra a safe, loving, evolving field of growth. |
